Easy Christmas Crafts

We celebrated two birthdays this week, ate 40 pounds of mandarin oranges, went to our homeschool co-op, put up a Christmas tree, read from Unearthing Wonder, and made a few easy crafts.

I created a little tutorial reel for these. Click the description to view the video.

Clay Nature Wreath Ornaments

To make these you will need air dry clay and some nature finds. Simply create a wreath shape (I used a jar lid to cut the outer circle), and then press nature finds into the clay. Poke a hole at the top of the wreath to add a ribbon for hanging. Taking a nature walk to find leaves and greenery is a great sensory activity for young children, and pressing the finds into the clay is wonderful fine motor work.

Dried Citrus Garland

I sliced a variety of citrus into ¼ inch rounds and placed in my dehydrator overnight. We then used a large needle to sew twine through them for hanging. Slicing is best suited for an older child or adult, but placing the citrus on the dehydrator trays and “sewing” them into a garland with a blunt needle can be done by younger children.

Herbal Tea

We dried coarse cut ginger and mixed it with dried orange peel, dried licorice root, and dried turmeric (about equal parts of each, except a little less turmeric). We placed it into small jars and made labels on Canva. The mixing and shaking make a great sensory activity for young children and a great gift for health conscious friends and family.

Did you already make your own gift list? Here are a few things that I loved this year!

Blueprints

This is a bag that can help you organize your life as a mom, it has several categories, and was a huge asset in our fire evacuation preparedness here in California.

Young Living Starter Kit

There are many essential oil products on the market now, but I trust the safety and efficacy of Young Living, and I keep my diffusers going with Thieves, especially during flu season. I'm a distributor for that reason and appreciate their low-pressure membership.

Homeschool Planner

I rely on my planner to help me organize my week and build good habits, and I love spending the week after Christmas dreaming about the new year and creating a goals list.

Mere Motherhood by Cindy Rollins

I've read tons of homeschooling books, but this one reads like a really good novel while still containing tons of inspiration. I love getting a new book for Christmas and curling up to read while munching on stocking candy, and this book is a delight.
